Since the beginning of her journey with dance, Lina Gómez has embraced the belief that meaningful learning is a two-way street—an exchange where experiences, contexts, and stories become the driving force and common thread of education. In parallel with her work as a choreographer and dancer, Lina has built a vibrant career as a teacher, mentor, and facilitator, conducting workshops, lectures, and mentoring artists and dance students internationally.
With a rich background in traditional dances from Brazil and Colombia, contemporary dance, somatic practices, and improvisation, Lina has developed teaching methods focused on movement research, playfulness, and community awareness. She has taught in Colombia, Brazil, Portugal, Poland, India, Turkey, Romania, and Germany, creating spaces for exploration and shared growth.
Since 2017, Lina has collaborated with Kulturpate, a Berlin-based association that supports refugee children by integrating arts, dance, and language. Through this initiative, she uses movement and creativity as tools for connection, cultural exchange, and self-expression, fostering a sense of belonging and resilience in young participants.
As a Lecturer at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT-Berlin) since 2017, Lina teaches in the BA Dance, Context, Choreography, and MA Choreography programs. Her teaching engagements also include the Bauhaus University of Weimar, the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe, and Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany.
As an Artistic Mentor for São Paulo’s Programa Vocacional – Dança from 2012 to 2014, Lina deepened her expertise in arts education, fostering emancipatory creative processes and supporting the artistic development of participants. Additionally, she has collaborated with Brazilians cultural institutions such as CLAC – the Free Performing Arts Center of São Bernardo do Campo – and led workshops exploring creation and choreographic composition.
From 2009 to 2012, she collaborated with Brazilian theater director Helder Mariani on projects and workshops centered on preparing the body for theater. These initiatives engaged employees from diverse organizations across São Paulo, fostering physical awareness and creative expression within professional environments.
